Un pequeño pueblo perdido en medio de un inmenso bosque de pinos en el norte de España. Un lugar que esconde fantasmas y no recuerda. La casa de piedra de mi familia, cerrada con tres candados. Durante una fiesta tradicional de origen medieval, los hombres casaderos cortan el pino más alto, largo y recto, y lo clavan en la plaza del pueblo. En ese mismo lugar 70 años antes, mataron a mi bisabuela y su hija. Un doble femicidio perpetrado a la vista de todos, pero del que nadie habló, hasta ahora.
A small village lost in the middle of an immense pine forest in northern Spain. A place that hides ghosts and does not remember. My family’s stone house, locked with three padlocks. During a traditional festival of medieval origin, the eligible men cut down the tallest, straightest pine and drive it into the village square. In that very spot, 70 years earlier, my great-grandmother and her daughter were killed. A double femicide committed in plain sight, but one no one spoke of—until now.

Lorena Muñoz estudió Cine en el Centro de Investigación y Experimentación en Video y Cine (CIEVYC 1996 – 1999). Premiada con su tesis de cortometraje ficción El cazador es un corazón solitario (1999), ganadora de un premio BAFICI quela becó con el Taller de guion de la EICTV, Cuba. Participó del programa VERSIÓN ESPAÑOLA (Televisión Española). Fue docente y expositora en prestigiosas instituciones, como el Centro Cultural Recoleta de Buenos Aires, Argentina y Casa de América, Madrid, España. Fue jurado en la Competencia internacional de numerosos festivales como el de La Habana, Málaga, Mar del Plata y FIDOCS. En 2003, escribe y dirige el documental Yo no sé qué me han hecho tus ojos. En el 2006, escribe y dirige el documental Los próximos pasados. En 2016, escribe y dirige la ficción Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor, protagonizada por Natalia Oreiro, que fue un éxito rotundo de taquilla y crítica, con más de un millón de espectadores solo en Argentina. En 2018, escribe y dirige la ficción El potro, lo mejor del amor. En 2020, escribe y dirige para HBO MAX e Infinity Hill la serie Dalma Maradona, la hija de D10S. También dirige la serie Releyendo Mafalda para Disney+ y Star+. Cannes Doc. En 2023 escribe y dirige el documental María Soledad, el fin del silencio que se estrenó en Netflix en octubre de 2024. En la actualidad prepara el estreno del documental Suerte de pinos donde la directora regresa al pueblo de su familia en España, para narrar el femicidio de su bisabuela y su tía abuela en el año 1954.
Lorena Muñoz studied Filmmaking at the Center for Research and Experimentation in Video and Film (CIEVYC, 1996–1999). Her fictional short film thesis The Hunter Is a Lonely Heart (1999) won an award at BAFICI, which granted her a scholarship to attend the Scriptwriting Workshop at EICTV in Cuba. She participated in the Spanish television program VERSIÓN ESPAÑOLA (Televisión Española). She has taught and lectured at prestigious institutions such as the Recoleta Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Casa de América in Madrid, Spain. She has served as a jury member in the international competition sections of numerous festivals, including those in Havana, Málaga, Mar del Plata, and FIDOCS. In 2003, she wrote and directed the documentary I Don’t Know What Your Eyes Have Done to Me. In 2006, she wrote and directed the documentary The Next of the Past. In 2016, she wrote and directed the fiction film Gilda: I’m Not Sorry for This Love, starring Natalia Oreiro, which was a major critical and box office success, with over one million viewers in Argentina alone. In 2018, she wrote and directed the fiction film El Potro: The Best of Love. In 2020, she wrote and directed Dalma Maradona: The Daughter of D10S, a series for HBO MAX and Infinity Hill. She also directed the series Rereading Mafalda for Disney+ and Star+. At Cannes Docs, in 2023, she wrote and directed the documentary María Soledad: The End of Silence, which premiered on Netflix in October 2024. She is currently preparing for the release of the documentary Luck of the Pines, in which the director returns to her family’s village in Spain to recount the femicide of her great-grandmother and great-aunt in 1954.
