Sinopsis

Jesús, un joven fraile atrapado entre los muros de un monasterio y su pasión por el baile, decide escapar para seguir su verdadero sueño: participar en un concurso de talentos. Pero su gran momento en el escenario se convierte en un desastre humillante. Derrotado, encuentra consuelo en Pedro, otro soñador rechazado, quien lo introduce en un mundo donde la danza no es solo un arte, sino una celebración de la identidad y la libertad. En las coloridas calles de Tarma, Jesús descubre un ritmo nuevo, una comunidad vibrante y a Belén, una joven extrovertida que despierta en él sentimientos inesperados. Mientras se redescubre a sí mismo a través de la danza, también deberá enfrentar su pasado y un tenso reencuentro con su padre, un hombre marcado por las expectativas y los reproches. Con la fiesta del corso en su punto máximo, Jesús entenderá que la verdadera libertad no está en huir, sino en encontrar su propio compás en el caos de la Vida.

Jesus, a young friar trapped within the walls of a monastery and his passion for dance, decides to escape in pursuit of his true dream: participating in a talent show. Defeated, he finds comfort in Pedro, another rejected dreamer, who introduces him to a world where dance is not just an art form, but a celebration of identity and freedom. In the colorful streets of Tarma, Jesus discovers a new rhythm, a vibrant community, and Belén, an outgoing young woman who awakens unexpected feelings in him. As he rediscovers himself through dance, he must also confront his past and a tense reunion with his father, a man burdened by expectations and resentment. With the Corso festival at its peak, Jesus will come to understand that true freedom doesn’t lie in running away, but in finding his own rhythm amid the chaos of life.

Joan Vitovilla nació en Tarma en 1993. Durante su infancia, migró con su familia hacia la selva central del Perú, estableciéndose en el centro poblado Los Zorzales, ubicado a tres horas del distrito de Perené, en la provincia de Chanchamayo. Fue allí donde cursó la educación primaria, en un entorno natural que estimuló profundamente su imaginación, moldeada por el contacto directo con la biodiversidad del bosque amazónico. Más adelante, su familia retornó a Tarma, donde concluyó la educación secundaria en el colegio parroquial San Vicente de Paúl. Desde la adolescencia, manifestó un marcado interés por el arte y la cultura, mostrando una afinidad especial por la fotografía. Esta pasión lo llevó a optar por la carrera de Ciencias de la Comunicación, considerándola una vía significativa para profundizar en su vocación artística. Durante su formación profesional en la Universidad Continental, descubrió en el lenguaje audiovisual un campo de expresión que le permitió vincular su sensibilidad estética con la técnica cinematográfica. Fue en este contexto donde desarrolló habilidades en dirección y fotografía, consolidando así una base conceptual y técnica que respaldara su práctica artística. Desde los primeros ciclos académicos, se involucró activamente en la producción y dirección de contenidos audiovisuales. Su trabajo fue reconocido en certámenes fotográficos tanto a nivel local —como en un concurso organizado por la Municipalidad de Tarma— como en espacios institucionales dentro de la universidad. No obstante, sus mayores logros se vinculan a la realización de cortometrajes en colaboración con su equipo creativo. Antes de participar en UNIFEST —Festival de Cine Universitario— dirigió tres cortometrajes: Mariposas Negras, Reminiscencia y Willay (Presagio). Estas obras representaron una etapa de experimentación y perfeccionamiento en el arte de la dirección cinematográfica. Estos aprendizajes se consolidaron en el cortometraje Santo Bailón, con el que él y su equipo obtuvieron el primer lugar en la categoría de Mejor Cortometraje de Comedia en UNIFEST, reafirmando su capacidad autoral y su liderazgo creativo dentro del ámbito universitario del cine.

Joan Vitovilla was born in Tarma in 1993. During his childhood, he migrated with his family to the central jungle of Peru, settling in the village of Los Zorzales, located three hours from the district of Perené, in the province of Chanchamayo. It was there that he attended primary school, in a natural environment that deeply stimulated his imagination, shaped by direct contact with the biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest. Later, his family returned to Tarma, where he completed his secondary education at San Vicente de Paúl Parochial School. From adolescence, he showed a strong interest in art and culture, with a particular affinity for photography. This passion led him to pursue a degree in Communication Sciences, viewing it as a meaningful path to deepen his artistic vocation. During his professional training at Universidad Continental, he discovered in audiovisual language a field of expression that allowed him to merge his aesthetic sensitivity with cinematic technique. It was in this context that he developed skills in directing and cinematography, building a strong conceptual and technical foundation to support his artistic practice. From the early stages of his academic journey, he actively engaged in the production and direction of audiovisual content. His work was recognized in photography competitions both locally—such as a contest organized by the Municipality of Tarma—and within institutional spaces at the university. However, his greatest achievements are tied to the production of short films in collaboration with his creative team. Before participating in UNIFEST — the University Film Festival — he directed three short films: Mariposas Negras, Reminiscencia, and Willay (Presagio). These works marked a period of experimentation and refinement in the art of film directing. These learnings came together in the short film Santo Bailón, with which he and his team won first place in the Best Comedy Short Film category at UNIFEST, reaffirming his authorial voice and creative leadership within the university film scene.
