Sinopsis

1971, España franquista. En el campo gallego, María ayuda a las mujeres en el parto. Tras intentar socorrer a una joven en apuros, de repente tiene que esconderse de las autoridades, dejarlo todo atrás y huir del país. En su peligrosa travesía hacia Portugal, María encuentra solidaridad femenina y se da cuenta de que no está sola y que, gracias a la ayuda de otras personas, podría finalmente encontrar su libertad. 

1971, Francoist, Spain. In the Galician countryside María assists women in childbirth. After an attempt to help a young woman in trouble, she suddenly has to hide from the authorities, leave everything behind and flee the country. On her perilous journey to Portugal, María encounters female solidarity and realizes that she is not alone and that, thanks to the help of others, she might finally find her freedom.

Cineasta oriunda de San Sebastián y radicada en Galicia. Estudió en la Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts en Praga (FAMU) y en la University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). En Galicia crea una renombrada obra como directora y guionista. Su primera película, Arima (2019), ganó el Premio a Mejor Director en la sección Las Nuevas Olas del Festival de Cine Europeo de Sevilla y a Mejor Película en la sección Escáner del festival Márgenes, así como ser proyectada en la sección Hecho en España del Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián. 

Filmmaker originally from San Sebastian and based in Galicia, she studied at the The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) and the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). It is in Galicia where she creates a renowned body of work as a director and screenwriter. Her first film, Arima (2019), won the Award for Best Director in the section New Waves of Seville European Film Festival and best film in the section Escáner of the festival Márgenes, as well as it was screened in the section Made in Spain in San Sebastian International Film Festival.
