Es una de las voces más sólidas del género documental en América Latina. De su filmografía, destacan: “La canción del pulque” (2003), “Los ladrones viejos” (2007), “El cielo abierto” (2011), “Cuates de Australia” (2011), “El paso” (2015) y “La libertad del diablo” (2017). Estas películas han sido proyectadas y premiadas en diversos festivales como IDFA, Berlinale, Toulouse, Locarno, Montreal, BAFICI, Sarajevo, Guadalajara, Morelia, entre otros.

Su película “La libertad del diablo” (2017) fue reconocida con el Premio Amnistía Internacional en la Berlinale. En el 2018, dirigió “A 3 Minute Hug” un documental para Netflixs Original en latinoamérica. Al año siguiente, colaboró con la plataforma Opdocs del New York Times con “Children from the Narcozone” nominado al News and Doc Emmy Award en la categoría Outstanding New Aproaches. Es miembro de las Academias de Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas de México y Estados Unidos. Sus películas más recientes son “Yermo” (2020) y “Lopon” (2020). En el 2022, se integró a la Red de Expertos de la Global Iniciative Against Organized Crime.

He is one of the most solid voices of the documentary genre in Latin America. From his filmography, the following stand out: “La canción del pulque” (2003), “Los ladrones viejos” (2007), “El cielo abierto” (2011), “Cuates de Australia” (2011), “El paso” (2015) and “The freedom of the devil” (2017). These films have been screened and awarded at various festivals such as IDFA, Berlinale, Toulouse, Locarno, Montreal, BAFICI, Sarajevo, Guadalajara, Morelia, among others.

His film “The Devil’s Freedom” (2017) was recognized with the Amnesty International Award at the Berlinale. In 2018, he directed “A 3 Minute Hug” a documentary for Netflixs Original in Latin America. The next year, he contributed to the New York Times platform Opdocs with “Children from the Narcozone” nominated for a News and Doc Emmy Award in the Outstanding New Approaches category. He is a member of the Academies of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Mexico and the United States. His most recent films are “Yermo” (2020) and “Lopon” (2020). In 2022, he joined the Global Initiative Against Organized Crime Expert Network.
