A los 23 años, Matías Bize dirigió “Sábado” (2003) por la que ganó el premio Rainer Werner Fasbinder en el Mannheim-Heidelberg Festival. A continuación, rodó “En la cama” (2005), que recibió más de cuarenta premios internacionales tras celebrar su estreno mundial en el Festival de Locarno, donde también estrenó “Lo bueno de llorar” (2006). Después llegó “La vida de los peces” (2010) y “La memoria del agua” (2015), ambas presentadas en el Festival de Cine de Venecia. En la República Dominicana, rodó “En tu piel” (2019), una película que nació como un remake de “En la cama” para finalmente convertirse en una película original. En el momento más duro del confinamiento, dirigió “Mensajes privados” (2022), un film coral para el que el director pidió a sus intérpretes más cercanos que se grabaran con sus propios móviles y construyeran una narrativa basada en historias reales.
At the age of 23, Matías Bize directed “Saturday” (2003) with which he won the Rainer Werner Fassbinder Award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg Festival. It was followed by “In the bed” (2005), which received more than forty international awards after celebrating its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival, where he also premiered “About Crying” (2006). Later came “The Life of the Fish” (2010) and “The Memory of Water” (2015), both premiered at the Venice Film Festival. In the Dominican Republic, he directed “7:20 Once a Week” (2019), a film that was born as a remake of “In the Bed” to finally become an original feature film. At the hardest moment of the lockdown, he directed “Private Messages” (2022), a choral film in which the director invited his closest actors to record themselves with their own cell phones and build a story based on true stories.
