Asteroid City is a dot-on-the-map desert town in the American Southwest. The year is 1955. The town’s most famous attraction is a gigantic meteor crater and celestial observatory nearby. This weekend, the military and astronomers are welcoming five science award-winning children to display their inventions. Not far away, over the hills, mushroom clouds from atomic tests are seen.

1969, Texas, EE. UU. Asistió a la Universidad de Texas en Austin, donde estudió filosofía y conoció a Owen Wilson. Pronto se hicieron buenos amigos y comenzaron a hacer cortometrajes, uno de estos fue “Bottle Rocket” (1994), protagonizada por Owen y su hermano Luke Wilson. El corto se proyectó en el Festival de Cine de Sundance, donde fue recibido con éxito, tanto que recibieron fondos para realizar una versión de largometraje. Realizó “Ladrón que roba a otro ladrón” (1996) que si bien no fue un éxito comercial, le ganó una audiencia de culto y admiradores de alto perfil como Martin Scorsese. El éxito siguió con películas como “Academia Rushmore” (1998), “Life Aquatic” (2004), “Los Tenenbaums. Una familia de genios” (2001) y la película animada, “Fantástico Sr. Fox” (2009). 1969, Texas, USA Attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied philosophy and met Owen Wilson. They soon became good friends and began making short films, one of which was “Bottle Rocket” (1994), starring Owen and his brother Luke Wilson. The short was screened at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was received with success, so much so that they received funds to make a feature film version. He made “Thief Who Robs Another Thief” (1996) which while not a commercial success, earned him a cult audience and high-profile fans like Martin Scorsese. The success continued with films like “Rushmore Academy” (1998), “Life Aquatic” (2004), “The Tenenbaums. A Family of Geniuses” (2001) and the animated film, “Fantastic Mr. Fox” (2009). For the last two films he earned Oscar nominations.
