Hatzin, un adolescente de la Ciudad de México, viaja a Chihuaha para recoger los restos de su padre, que fueron encontrados en una fosa común entre los cielos y el paisaje despejado y vacío del norte de México. Pero un encuentro casual con un hombre que se parece físicamente a su papá, lo llena de dudas y esperanza sobre el verdadero paradero de su padre.

But a casual encounter with a man who shares a physical resemblance with his father fills him with doubts and hope about his parent’s true whereabouts

Lorenzo Vigas es el primer cineasta latinoamericano en ganar el prestigioso León de Oro en la edición número 72 del Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia, con su ópera prima Desde Allá.
En 2004, su documental Los Elefantes Nunca Olvidan, se estrenó en la Semana de la Crítica en el Festival de cine de Cannes. El cortometraje es la primera parte de una trilogía de ficción que explora el tema de la figura paterna. La segunda parte fue Desde Allá. En 2016, vuelve al Festival de Cine de Venecia, a presentar El Vendedor de Orquídeas, un documental sobre su padre, el reconocido pintor latinoamericano Oswaldo Vigas.
En 2021, estrena su última película La Caja en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia, dentro de la Selección Oficial. La película recibió el Premio Sfera y el Leoncino d’Oro Premio Agiscuola, entregado por UNICEF. El filme también se presentó en el Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián, Toronto, BFI London Film Festival y el Festival Internacional de Cine de Tokio, entre otros, recibiendo numerosos premios y reconocimientos.
Lorenzo Vigas becomes in year 2015, the first Latin American to ever win the prestigious Golden Lion at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival for his debut film From Afar. Vigas had obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1994, and while he was studying for his Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, he decided to move to New York to attend filmmaking workshops at New York University. Later on, he worked in Caracas directing the documentary series Expedition, produced by RCTV, and institutional documentaries for the production company Cinesa. In 2004, his short film Elephants never forget premiered at the Cannes International Critic ́s Week. This short film was Part 1 of a fiction trilogy that builds on the theme of the father figure. Part II was Desde allá.
In 2016, he presents in Official Section at the 73 rd Venice Film Festival, the feature documentary about his father, the renowned Latin American painter Oswaldo Vigas, titled The Orchid Seller. In 2021, he premiered his latest film, The Box, at Venice International Film Festival as part of the Official Selection. The film was awarded with the Sfera Award and the Leoncino d’Oro Agiscuola Award given by UNICEF. The film was screened also in San Sebastián International Film Fest, TIFF, BFI London Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.
