Por diferentes razones, Ali y Ava se sienten solos. Se conocen a través de Sofía, la hija de los inquilinos eslovacos de Ali a quien Ava cuida. A partir de ahí y durante un mes lunar, una conexión profunda comienza a crecer entre ellos, a pesar de las secuelas de la relación anterior de Ava y la confusión emocional de Ali; y todo ello alimentado por la pasión de ambos por la música.
For different reasons, Ali and Ava feel lonely. They meet through Sofia, the daughter of Ali’s Slovak tenants whom Ava takes care of. From there and for a lunar month, a deep connection begins to grow between them, despite the aftermath of Ava’s previous relationship and Ali’s emotional turmoil; and all this fueled by the passion of both for music.

Clio Barnard is one of the most important voices in contemporary British cinema. His first film The Arbor, won awards around the world and stood out for his style. His second feature film, The Selfish Giant, was selected at numerous festivals (including Cannes) and shortlisted for the BAFTA and Prix Lux awards. Dark River, his third film, premiered as part of the Platform section at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival, won an Honorable Mention. With ALI & AVA, Barnard establishes herself as a director with a particular sensitivity to social realism, following in the tradition of the great masters of British cinema such as Ken Loach and Mike Leigh. He is currently working on the television adaptation of Sarah Perry’s novel The Essex Serpent.
